Unplug Corporate Media

Call to Action:
By taking action to Unplug Corporate Media and demand media diversity, you can save your local stations from corporate control and right-wing dominance.

Goals, Tactics and Background:
Who owns your media? The vast majority of your TV and radio stations are controlled by a handful of multi-billion dollar corporations, while people of color represent only 3% of media owners. Since the Telecom Act of 1996, media ownership by people of color has been decreasing, while corporate media consolidation has increased. This trend hurts ethnic media and leaves many communities without a voice to tell their stories. The airwaves belong to the public and must be run in the public interest, not the corporate interest.
Quote:
"Tell the FCC to research and create policy that limits corporate media ownership and increases media ownership by people of color and women now! A just media system just can’t wait!"
